Gove
Peninsula - Arnhemland
- the location offers a multitude
of dive sites on the reefs surrounding the many islands of
the peninsula. Our half day trips take 35-40 minutes from
Gove Harbour and you can find a wide variety of hard
and soft corals, an abundance of fish life including
many clownfish and their anemones and its not
uncommon to have the bat fish accompany you on your
dive.
These
reefs are home to manta rays, blue spotted rays, reef sharks
and a few resident moray eels. During September to
April water temperatures are 28-32 degrees Celsius and the
visibility is around 15-25 metres. During May to August water
temperatures are 24-28 degrees Celsius and the visibility
is around 8-15 metres. Gear Hire is Available.
Millions
of people young and old have discovered the joy of snorkelling.
The reefs around the Gove Peninsula are teeming with
many colourful reef fish and many varieties of beautiful hard
and soft corals. Put on a mask and snorkel and have a look
for yourself on one of our snorkel trips.
Snorkellors
are welcome to join the scuba divers on any of the half day
or full day trips. The best times of the year for snorkelling
are during our tropical summer months from October to March.
Enjoy
an Interpretative Cruise, guided by our friendly skipper
Ken, around Gove Harbour and the nearby islands
passing some areas of historical interest relating to WWII.
Cruise
duration is 4 hours and can be combined with some snorkelling
or fishing as these cruises are designed to meet your interests
and needs. Morning or afternoon teas supplied or catering
can be provided on request.
